Our team on the Tale of Two Cities project (TTC) are really excited that the film will have its Melbourne premiere at the West Projections Festival 2019. Given the work is set along the banks of the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, there is no finer setting for this three-channel projection than the back streets of Footscray; home to one of Melbourne’s largest Vietnamese diaspora communities.
We think that the juxtaposition of the film, based on its content and intent, against the context of the festival is really rich. In many ways it is the perfect home coming project for Emily and Nicholas Fernandez, as they are collaborating on the production a number of creative works. At the same time, positioning a film about forced relocation in a community famous for its immigration, is a second reason it all fits so well.
Please do join us at the opening or take a moment to see our work and many of the other great pieces that have been curated to meet the festival’s theme of “Home”.
